This means that in order to keep your spine in proper alignment, your pillow must be the perfect combination of the right shape, firmness, and height. No, unlike other materials such as memory foam, our natural latex is temperature regulating due to its open-cell structure and it will not get hard in the cold or soft in warm weather.
The natural properties of latex provide a natural cooling effect unlike any other pillow manufactured on the market.
Please refer to the individual item as they are all a bit different. Some are spot clean only and some have a removable washable cover. You should never put the natural latex in the dryer as it will dry out the natural latex and void the warranty.
The pillow is made from natural latex sourced from the rubber trees that are indigenous to tropical lands. The natural latex is the most expensive part of the pillow and pillow making process, this is factored into our costs.
Natural latex outperforms memory foam by its breathability, sustainability, consistency, Oeko-Tex Class 1 Baby Safe certification, better supports REM sleep cycles and is supportive, buoyant and offers pressure relief.

Our pillows are truly unique! Shredded latex pillows are made out of scraps of latex left over from other projects in whatever firmness is available at the time. The scraps are then run through a machine that rips and tears them apart, which leads to a lumpy and inconsistent feel from pillow to pillow. We make our fill ourselves using customized cutting machinery and 100% virgin materials (which means that we specifically use the same materials every single time) even though it is more expensive and labor intensive to do so. On top of that, natural latex is only one part of the fill that makes up our pillow. It is the way we combine these materials that gives our pillow its unique, soft and supportive feel. You have to feel it to believe it, but when you do, we know you will understand.

The natural latex in our pillows comes from sap of the Hevea brasiliensis tree (Rubbertree), the latex goes through several washing cycles as it is manufactured which removes most of the smell but it may have a bit of a natural rubber smell that will dissipate over time. Some people won't notice the smell at all and it will be very noticeable to others, it just depends on the person. There are no petrochemicals or other harmful ingredients like you find with memory foam or other chemical based foams. We cut the latex and make the pillows the same day they are shipped so everything is fresh and then hermetically sealed to keep it clean and pure until it arrives to our customer. Due to the fact that we seal it the day we make it the smell will be stronger when it's initially removed from the package and will dissipate after a couple of days.
All of our pillows will work well for a side sleeper but our Luxury Side Sleeper Pillow is a favorite for side sleepers!
There is no special pillow case required, you can use your favorite queen size pillow case. We do make a custom pillow case for our side sleeper pillows which can be found here: https://www.sleepartisan.com/product-page/certified-organic-cotton-pillowcase
The natural latex is naturally antimicrobial, we do not add anything in.
Yes, they are dust mite and allergy resistant, naturally!
Our pillows are vacuum sealed and rolled for eco friendly shipping.
It's required by the state of California that we, inform the public about the possible presence of certain chemicals in our products. While we do mot believe that our products contain any of the chemicals covered under Proposition 65 (our natural latex supplier has done the research and found that our latex does not require the warning), we are a small family business and we need to protect ourselves. In the interest of doing so, we feel it necessary to provide the following WARNING: This product contains a chemical (or chemicals) known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Please note that Sleep Artisan only uses Okeo Tex-100 certified baby safe and GOLS certified organic latexes. Both are natural products that don't have ozone depleters, flame retardant chemicals, phalates, or heavy metals.
